INTERVIEW TIP:
Want to know one thing a potential employer really does not want to hear? 👂🏼
⠀⠀
Let me let you in on a little secret....🤫
⠀⠀
When you are sitting down for an interview, and you hear the question: “So why did you leave X job and starting seeking a career elsewhere?” ⠀⠀
Please, do not respond back 🗣 bashing your ex-employer. That is NOT what we want to hear.
⠀⠀
▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️
⠀⠀
❌ Don’t say:
“My employer didn’t offer me any training so my job was so hard!”
⠀⠀
✅ Do say:
“I’m personally a visual learner and like working alongside a team member to make sure I do something correctly the first time. So I’m looking for a company that has more value in their training.” 👥
⠀⠀
❌ Don’t say:
“The pay sucked, especially for how many hours I worked!” ⏰ ⠀⠀
✅ Do say:
“I’m looking for a company that values their employee’s contributions and dedication. Trust me, some days you’ll have to kick me out of the office because I’m determined to hit a goal! But I want to work for someone who understands why work/life balance is vital to an employee.”
⠀⠀
❌ Don’t say:
“My boss had zero management skills!” ⠀⠀
✅ Do say:
“I value a manager that isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and work alongside a team. So, I’m looking for a position that encompasses that.”
⠀⠀
...we know you did not enjoy working for your last employer, or else you wouldn’t be sitting in our interview chair 🤗😉
⠀⠀
So, trust me when I say talking about your ex-employer negatively is a huge turnoff! 👎🏼
⠀⠀
Instead, turn that negative you have into something that you value and are seeking in your next employer!
Good of you Sir,
